After a rejuvenating and inspiring HODs/Stakeholders Retreat organized by the hospital management from Wednesday, February 28, 2024 – March 1, 2024, staff will be returning to work with renewed energy and enthusiasm. The retreat, held at HOGIS, Luxuries Suites, Calabar, provided HODs/Stakeholders with an invaluable opportunity to recharge, reconnect, and engage in a range of enriching activities aimed at fostering teamwork, well-being, and strategic planning. Throughout the retreat, HODs/Stakeholders participated in a diverse array of activities designed to enhance collaboration, communication, and mutual trust and friendship among team members. From engaging team-building exercises to thought-provoking interactive session with professional development workshops, participants embraced the opportunity to strengthen relationships and develop new skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. One of the highlights of the retreat was the presence of key resource persons like Alhaji Muhammed Arab Kolo, the immediate past Director of Finance and Accounts/GIFMIS Programme Manager & Governance Advisor, Mrs. Jummai Abdullahi, immediate past Director Servicom, Rev. Israel Eyo of the Chapel of Redemption including Prof. Akanimo Eshiet and Dr. Innocent Abang. The resource person did not spare any stone as they delivered their lectures with emphasis on HODs/Stakeholders owning the hospital and making a difference. They also spoke on areas of HODs/Stakeholders’ well-being, with a series of wellness sessions aimed at promoting mental and physical health. HODs/Stakeholders also had the chance to unwind and prioritize self-care, ultimately returning to work feeling refreshed and revitalized. In addition to fostering teamwork and well-being, the retreat provided a platform for strategic planning interactions, allowing HODs/Stakeholders to contribute their ideas and insights towards advancing the hospital's mission and goals. Through collaborative brainstorming sessions, participants explored innovative strategies to enhance patient care, improve operational efficiency, and drive organizational success. The retreat also offered valuable networking opportunities amongst HODs/Stakeholders, enabling them to connect with colleagues from different departments, share best practices, and build meaningful professional relationships that will strengthen the hospital community moving forward. Reflecting on the success of the retreat, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ikpeme, A. Ikpeme expressed gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic engagement and contributions. In the words of the CMD, "The Retreat was a tremendous success, thanks to the dedication and commitment of our incredible HODs/Stakeholders. He also expressed satisfaction in management’s ability to have provided an opportunity for its management team and stakeholders to recharge, reconnect, and gain new insights that will ultimately benefit patients and the community. As HODs/Stakeholders return to their roles with renewed energy and a sense of purpose, the hospital looks forward to building on the momentum generated by the retreat and continuing to deliver high-quality care to those they serve.
